WHAT IS DICK ZALACK’S
STRATEGIC THINKING PROCESS?

Simply put, Dick Zalack’s Strategic Thinking Process is a system for you and your key staff that will help:

  1. Position your organization with values, vision, and mission;
  2. Clarify what you want to accomplish;
  3. Develop a plan to accomplish those goals; and
  4. Equip you to stay focused and on track while you implement your plan.

Most businesses do not have a written values statement, vision statement, or mission statement. Those that do, often have ones that were applied artificially, statements that reflect neither the character of the members nor the values of the leadership. The process of creating your values, vision, and mission statements is an invaluable experience in clarifying who you are and where you intend to go as a business.

If you do not have clarity in what you intend to accomplish, it is virtually impossible to know what to do next, to make decisions as to the best choices available in each and every situation you and your business encounter. If you don’t know where you’re going on vacation, it’s not possible either to make plans or to make effective decisions on options that come your way. The same is true with your business. The decision on whether to expand or not, hire a new person or not, or take on that new product or not, can only be made effectively if you know today your succession strategy.

Most businesses are in a constant state of evolution, yet they do not have a written plan and they have virtually no proactive planning process. Would you build a new home without a plan? Why would you treat the building of your business differently than you would the building of a structure to house it?

We’ve all seen pictures of homes that have started out as one-room cabins that have been added onto willy-nilly over decades. While the structures may function as adequate protection from the environment, they barely qualify as houses and, as such, have virtually no resale value as structures. Don’t let your business become a Rube Goldberg organization. Create a plan and follow it.

As entrepreneurs and business owners, you face constant attacks every day on the future of your business; many of those threats disguised as apparent opportunities. Your ability to say no to those offers is as important to the future success of your organization as your ability to know which things you should say yes to. Staying focused, you and your team, on your vision and your mission is a skill that must be learned in order to achieve your goals. The ability to stay on track is the skill you need to make all your well-thought-out plans become realities and not remain simply unfulfilled dreams.

Dick Zalack’s Strategic Thinking Process can help your company, your business, or your organization to function efficiently and effectively. With our process, you and your staff will be able to accurately create your Preferred Future, create the action steps necessary to achieve your goals, and rest assured that you will remain focused and on track throughout the process.
